If you’re expecting a baby or planning to grow your family soon, one of the first big decisions you’ll face is choosing the right OBGYN. As a local mom (and photographer) myself, I know how overwhelming it can be to find someone you trust—especially in such a personal and important role. That’s why I’ve gathered recommendations straight from fellow local moms who’ve been through it and shared the Palo Alto OBGYN they love. Whether you’re looking for a supportive bedside manner, a more holistic approach, or just someone who really listens, this list is here to help you feel a little more confident in your search.
Fatemeh M. Parsian, M.D.
A board‑certified OB/GYN based at PAMF’s Palo Alto office on El Camino Real. She’s praised for taking time with patients, clearly explaining things, and offering telehealth options. Here’s a few quotes from local moms:
“I LOVED her. Very thoughtful, excellent communication and bedside manner.”
“She was amazing; professional, caring, and empathetic!”
Dr. Christie A. Coleman
A highly experienced OB/GYN (30+ years) practicing out of PAMF Palo Alto. She’s an adjunct clinical assistant professor, affiliated with Stanford, and well-regarded for her expertise. Here’s what some Palo Alto moms had to say about Dr. Coleman:
“Dr. Coleman is my OB/Gyn. She’s EXCELLENT, you’re lucky to have her. Many good things have been said about her on here. What I like most is she listens and takes the time to answer all your questions and doesn’t make you feel like you’re on a clock and need to leave the room.”
“Christie has been my doctor for thirty years. She is EXCELLENT. She helped us through ten years of infertility that culminated in the birth of our triplets eight years ago. I can’t say enough good things about her.”
Kirstin Woo, M.D.
An OB/GYN at PAMF (Los Altos location) with 20+ years of experience. She’s involved in teaching as an adjunct clinical assistant professor through Stanford and is known for offering comprehensive prenatal and annual care.
“Love the OB-GYN group in Los Altos PAMF, especially Dr Kirstin Woo.”
Ken Weber, M.D.
A board‑certified OB/GYN at Stanford-affiliated Los Olivos Women’s Medical Group (Mountain View). Practicing since the early ’90s, he delivers around 200 babies annually, is praised for his gentle, patient‑focused bedside manner, and is deeply experienced.
Jennifer Conti, M.D., M.S., M.Sc.
Based at Menlo Medical (part of Stanford Health), Dr. Conti is fellowship‑trained in family planning and also an award‑winning medical journalist. She holds multiple advanced degrees and co-hosts the popular “The V Word” podcast on reproductive health. I tried to get into her practice for my 2nd child, but she wasn’t taking new patients at the time. Maybe you’ll get lucky! A few short and sweet pieces of feedback I heard:
“Dr. Conti out of Menlo medical helped me feel very seen.”
“Dr. Conti is amazing.”
Jagdip Powar, M.D.
Dr. Power was one of the most recommended doctors I came across. He is an adjunct clinical associate professor at Stanford Medicine, practicing at Palo Alto Women’s Health on Quarry Road. With over 30 years in women’s care, he delivers many babies and is noted for a personalized approach. See the feedback for yourself:
“Powar is AMAZING. I had some complications and honestly, I don’t know if I’d be alive or my daughter would if we’d had anyone else. You don’t see him for bedside manner. He is polite but quick and all business. You go to see him because he is beyond knowledgable and unflappable.”
“Powar is incredible. I had 3 of my 4 kids with him. I have very big babies (my second one was especially tough) and I’m convinced I would have ended up with a C-section with any other doctor. He made me turn off the epidural for an hour so I could effectively push her out (hell but worth it) and had the bed titled down to help ensure there was no shoulder dysplasia. As noted above he’s not warm and fuzzy but incredibly talented.”
“I had vaginal delivery with twins with Dr. Powar! He was calm, collected, skilled, and when my son’s heart rate was dropping quickly, he commanded the room, and got both babies out safely without the need to do C-section. His skill and quick thinking is trademark.”
Looking for a Palo Alto OBGYN can seem like finding a unicorn, but luckily, amazing healthcare is not hard to come by in Silicon Valley. It’s hard to go wrong with any doctors here, but hopefully this list helps narrow down your options.
